Conventions of film making:
  • Introduce distrubution company logo
  • Name of the film
  • Who the stars are
  • Introduction to the key character
  • Key locations
  • Mood of the film
  • Music to help set the mood
  • Suspence
The purpose of the opening sequence is to draw the audience in. It sets the setting and introduces us to the protagonist. This helps the audience engage with the film and gain an idea of what the film is about. Our aim is to create an opening sequence to a short thriller movie. We want to interact with the audience and get them to feel excited to want to watch the rest of the movie.

At the start of a movie we tend to see the name of the film and then an introduction distrubution comany logo before. This is done in order to advertise the company and to allow the audience to know who is behind it. As the opening sequence unfolds we are greeted with the names of the main characters to promote them as individual actors.  We also get indroduced to the key locations giving the audience a sence of the where abouts (urban/rural).
